'The Polish people have spoken and support a stronger military and securing their borders,' says Secretary of State Marco Rubio

WASHINGTON
The US congratulates Karol Nawrocki on his election as president of Poland, Secretary of State Marco Rubio said Monday.
The US and Poland share a "strong and enduring" partnership rooted in mutual commitment to security, prosperity and the rule of law, Rubio said in a statement.
"The Polish people have spoken and support a stronger military and securing their borders," he added.
The US looks forward to “working closely with President-elect Nawrocki and Poland's government to further our shared priorities,” Rubio said.
Nationalist opposition candidate Nawrocki won Poland’s presidential election with 50.89% of the vote, narrowly defeating Warsaw Mayor Rafal Trzaskowski in a fiercely contested runoff, according to official results released by the country's election commission.
