In Turkey, wholesale LNG license holders will be given the right to sell their LNG as a road vehicle fuel at LNG stations they establish, according to Turkish Official Gazette on Thursday.
Turkey's Energy Market Regulatory Authority's (EMRA) amendment in the natural gas market license regulation will now allow natural gas wholesale license holders to establish LNG stations and sell LNG as a road vehicle fuel under a separate license.
With the new regulation, eco-friendly transportation and reductions in carbon emissions will be promoted by expanding the usage of natural gas.
According to EMRA's data, in China 200,000 trucks use LNG that is supplied through 2,000 LNG stations.
The European Union's LNG Blue Corridor project, which was launched in 2013, also aims to establish LNG as a real alternative for medium and long distance transport by establishing LNG stations 400 kilometers apart.
In the U.S. over 20 LNG stations provide fuel for trucks and the country's target is to establish 16,000 LNG and compressed natural gas (CNG) stations.
