Turkey's energy import bill decreased by 16.6% to $2.87 billion in June compared to the same month of 2018, according to data released by the Turkish Statistical Institute on Wednesday.
The data shows that Turkey's overall import bill, including energy and other items, totaled $14.25 billion in June, with energy accounting for over 20%.
While the overall energy import bill fell last month, the country increased its crude oil purchases.
Turkey imported approximately 2.11 million tons of crude oil last month, up from 1.83 million tons during the same period in 2018.
The country's crude oil imports showed a 15.5% rise over the same period compared to June 2018.
